The first ever Samaritans 24 hour, Big Green 24 hour run event!
From the fantastic Normanby Hall Estate, we've got camping right in the heart of the course and two different 2 mile loops we use during the event to keep things entertaining.
Samaritans are here for anyone struggling to cope – day or night, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. Taking action to prevent people reaching crisis point, helping people find ways to cope and learn the skills to be there for others. They campaign to make suicide prevention a priority.
Scunthorpe Samaritans celebrate their 60th anniversary in 2023, so what better way to help promote the incredible service the Samaritans provide. We're fundraising and raising awareness through the event.

Nope :) So we would love you to stay for the full 24 hours but no pressure.
You will need to start at 12:00 with everyone (teams just need to have one runner ready!). But if you decide to set a target time or distance that is absolutely fine and you just need to check out with us before you toddle off. The lap point also forms our check out point to go to base camp / facilities or to withdraw.
We've a lively hand over station where you hand over your race number to you fellow runner (using a race belt). One runners is out running while the other team members, chill, nap, eat and hopefully cheer on their fellow team mate! Were more than happy for everyone to head out on the final lap!
They sure can, they will just need to pay for parking. Entry will be restricted during the late / early hours.
However long you want :) but a minimum of one loop (2 miles) at a time
We're reaching out to local clubs, individuals and businesses to get in touch. We are looking for support to help us make the event greener, enrich the day for our brave runners and promote the event.
Thats no problem, some spaces will be reserved for those wishing to support the Samaritans (along with some other selected local charities)
All money from the ticket sales goes to the samaritans so you will already have helped, thank you :)
We have parking at site, but we recommend bringing in all your kit to base camp and getting a team tent / kit area set up.
Plan to be self sufficient for your main food on the day, it's important you're eating food you're used to and can stomach (we have toilets. showers, changing rooms and a BBQ area). Water will be available in the team zone throughout the event and we will have snacks and refrehments dished out as we go along.
In terms of sleeping, thats up to you, crash out in the team area (sleeping bag and reclining chair is a good choice). Pop back to you car, set up a tent or just nap on the grass! A site map with options will go in the information pack. Camping is free at our base camp :)
We need to look after you on the day, we have medical cover at the site and keep a close eye on you. Plus it could cause a delay in runner hand over etc... so plan to stay, support your team, the other runners and be there for the 24!
If you do decide to finish early or pop off, then of course thats no problem ... we just need you to let us know. You can of course withdraw from the event at any point, for example if you have a target distance or time your going for :)
It is a super location, we have a day time 'all trail' run. Generally firm underfoot and trail shoes are recommended but it's nothing technical (and it's pan flat!). For the night-time element of the run it's then a mixture of trail and tarmac park paths.
Not at our base camp, but you can book separately with Normanby Hall (not via us) they have a great campsite based near the car park. It is a good walk from our loop point but only 200 metres from the night course.
We have free parking for competitors in the main Normanby Hall car park. You can also pre-drop you tent and heavy kit straight to base camp and then go park up as it's a 1km hike from the parking to base camp. If you don't fancy the walk then you can (weirdly) hop on the park train for a small fee (it includes you return ticket)... its a very fun way to arrive 'Choo choo'!
The event is chip time for accuracy and to allow for 'live' results to be broadcast as you go (great for friends & family!)
